  A well polished and snappy roguelite with satisfying controls. Works great on Steam Deck. Love the soundtrack too, we need more drum'n'bass in games!

  what seems like a really polished game is actually pretty devoid of content. an hour of play and you will see all the game has to offer. the replay value just isn't there as the spell, upgrade, and blessing variety are all lacking. maybe get it on sale.

  Finished medium difficulty first try and i gotta say... I think i prefer the demo you guys released a while back to the finished product. Its just kinda bland man. Specially that last boss, kinda weak. Still a pretty fun experience but definitely prefered the endless survival with upgrades kind of vibe over the hades lite-lite-lite kinda vibe you guys got going here. The spells are alright but more interesting upgrades can probably be added. The combat feels good. The ennemies are alright. The bosses kinda feel weak. The game play loop kinda feels weak. The runs kinda feel unsatisfying and lackluster, i dont feel like i accomplished anything when i finish a run, i dont feel like i accomplish anything when i beat a boss, bosses feel like mini-bosses or aftethoughts if that makes sense. Overall, would recommend but i hope the devs treat this game as an early access and continue working on it and evolve the game. Because as it stands, your game is kinda weak.

  Its demo was fun but not this. I will check this game out later in the future. For now, I cannot play this game any more because it's soooo boring.

  After 38 minutes with the game and just two runs (on Medium difficulty) I'd seen the end Credits... I don't know how this game was playtested (or if it was even tested at all), but it's disturbingly easy to trivialise the game due to several poor design choices. As soon as I figured out you could damage things before they'd spawned in completely, I just focused on making boomerang and blizzard as strong as possible, and was able to kill the first boss in about 6 seconds after struggling with it on my first run using chain lightning. I think the game has a neat art-style, but the use of chromatic aberration and not making enemies visually distinct (or visible through indestructible scenery) are two visual elements that felt really lacking, when all other games in the genre do this so well. And mechanically the gameplay is too basic, again because there are so many other games that do it much better. I will say I expected more from the game when I saw the pricetag and artstyle, but I'm afraid that the budget for the game have been misplaced. Also, there's basically no variety thus far. This may seem overly harsh for an Early Access review, but look at the competitors, and you'll understand. We don't need more of this genre just for the sake of the quantity, we need more games in this genre with well-planned and designed elements to remind us why roguelites are worth buying. This one is not worth your time, and it would need major changes to become worthwhile in my opinion.

  What I like: - Cool neon 9bit vibe - Great music - Casting spells sometimes feels impactful and satisfying What I dislike: - Lack of spell balance - some of them are great from the get go, others need a bunch of upgrades before they even come close to being useful, let alone strong - No plot or any context at all - Unoriginal - Gameplay loop is too repetitive and boring - Small variety of enemies, spells and blessings - Barebones, basic level design with little to catch the eye at all - Camera isn't locked to character but floats around you which doesn't feel great at all - When low on HP the screen gets so oversaturated with some stupid effect you can barely see anything, and that's when you need to be the most focused and careful - Can't remap dodge to a different keybind Overall, it's just another roguelike, nothing new under the sun. I tried to like it, I really did. Has some cool things about it, but the boring nature of what little content it has make it so you're much better off playing something like Dead Cells or Hades. Maybe some months down the line this will be good. Maybe it won't. Time will tell.

  Is Lone Ruin fun? yes. I don't wish to discount the hard work of the devs. It has slick presentation to boot. However, it's also sort of 'here for a good time not a long time'. You'll very quickly see all the game has to offer with its current content - upgrades, passives, bosses, dungeon layouts can become samey surprisingly quick for a roguelike. Hopefully a few updates can add more variety and be more substantial for the asking price.

  Too short, lacks variety (you find the same low level minion from 1st stage to last boss chamber), nothing really new here. It looks great, but that's just it.
