  Intrepid Izzy is a wonderful platformer with very little to complain about. The visuals are pretty, the music is incredible and the controls are responsive. The story is minimal and underwhelming, but it's the gameplay that makes this game shine, even if the adventure itself is rather short and I am personally clocking in at 7 hours for 100%. Izzy's adventure has the player charter some eye-candy locations, all while meeting a small assortment of zany characters and some rather interesting enemy and boss designs that scream 'Shantae' inspired; Each area is covered in gems, coins, platforming challenges and baddies to beat up, along with some areas requiring minimal, and puzzle-like, backtracking once the appropriate power-up (costume) is at your disposal. The weakest parts of the game are the bosses, not by design but longevity; Keen eyes will take note of boss patterns quickly and lay the smack down after a few attempts of trial and error, however even the most skilled of players won't deal enough damage before they fall asleep; Bosses have way to much health, so even if you've mastered the pattern, you'll be repetitively bullying them for what feels like an eternity. The slow pace ultimately makes the player feel weaker than they are, and by my third playthrough I was really dreading the encounters despite being able to do a few without damage taken. ZZZzzz... My second, and final, complaint is the PC version itself; Coming from the SEGA Dreamcast release, where I 100% the game as mentioned prior, the PC release leaves a lot to be desired. Zero display options which results to using STEAM's launch parameters, Controller detection isn't automatic and the mappings must be manually configured if you actually want to use a controller -- the defaults are junk. Additionally, Izzy seems to struggle at higher resolutions; I played at 2560x1440 (2k) and there were a slew of rendering issues, and *spoilers* the Sea Monster boss was just unbeatable until I went to 720p; Couldn't see anything. For platforming, puzzle platforming and adventure fans, Izzy feels right at home; Slow bosses aside, this game will keep you entertained and engaged -- Did I mention the music? It's THAT good; Wish the soundtrack was available. If you can, I highly recommend picking up the SEGA Dreamcast version over this release; In all fairness, I only purchased on STEAM to support SenileTeam, but part of me really regrets it due to the lack of polish on PC. My time with the SEGA Dreamcast release however was flawless, and if it had actually released back in the day, it would have been a definite classic in everyone's eyes. The developer has done an incredible job with this game, but I cannot recommend the PC version to everyone. Buy this game!!!! ...but maybe not on PC!

  Positive reviews are true, even on 4k big screen it looks and plays just awesome. Only con i can see is 60fps lock. Anyways i am putting this game in my personal list of most underrated games.

  Great and fun game, not to forget the positively quirky and funny mood. I like that it's a platformer but not an entire linear one. The abilities that you wil take on during the course of the game gives an extra touch to the overall gameplay. A negative thing, that there is no sequel yet!

  A must for classic gamers. The best compliment I can pay this game is it reminds me of classic Amiga and DOS games such as Superfrog and Commander Keen, not just in the gameplay, but in the graphics, music and humour (which seems very British despite being developed by a team in Holland). The level designs have enough secrets to keep you exploring without having too many collectables and the music is excellent.

  I'd like to update this review as i play more and interact with the dev too, But from my first session of the game i can tell a lot of love was put into making it a very simple, beat em up that's easy to get into and even easier to enjoy to a good extent. Clearly influenced by 2d beat em ups and platformers of the 90s, Izzy has a really cute charm to it and while cheesy it's charming enough to not be grating or in any way a turn off. Also i couldn't resist mentioning the part where they're working on (or have worked on? dont know the status at the moment) a DREAMCAST version and that alone has my fullest blessing and excitement to because WHO makes dreamcast games anymore? Based game devs of course. :^)

  Played the game at a friend's place before buying it. It's a classic platformer with great controls and a colorful world. I think lovers of the genre will really enjoy this game!
