Buzz discovers that 22 years have passed after a testing fuel, during which T'Kani Prime has been invaded by a robot force led by the mysterious Emperor Zurg.

Upon landing, Buzz meets members of the colony defense forces, including Izzy Hawthorne, Alisha's grown-up granddaughter; Mo Morrison, a fresh and naive recruit; and Darby Steel, an elderly convict on parole.

Though initially reluctant to work with them, Buzz ends up liking him. Together, they plan to attack Zurg's ship and destroy the invading force.
