Full of Lies, Removed Features, Deceit, Short Gameplay, All with a 80$ Price Tag! The game is hilariously short, having 10 "chapters" and a mediocre Boss Fight! Did I mention they are selling 20$ DLCs, Both of which are hilariously broken to the point the Library DLC ISNT COMPLETABLE? While I did enjoy the Gameplay, Visuals and Cutscenes, the Story is flawed and the game crashes so.. so often. Here are some features that were removed, that were promised or previously in the Beta: - Paint Cans - Baker actually Baking - Puzzles that Involve AI! - Characters States changing, You can no longer make them Dirty and have them take a Shower! - extended animations for the Crowbar and Windows, Now just press the button with them and they open! - Cut Guest entirely out of the game! Wow, the Main Antagonist! Gone! - Neural Network is not in the game, No matter what they tell you, there are NO files in the game currently pointing towards it! - The map was reduced to a fraction of what it previously was! - Non-Linear Story!

game is better then the first one, but its not complete and they removed a bunch of features that were in the beta and alpha which were good features and they removed them for no reason, if you look at the devlog video they promised a huge open area with lots of different characters, in the full release, there is like 5 characters, the guest, who is supposed to be one of the main enemies in the game, is in a single cutscene and makes some noises sometimes in other cutscenes, and the map is open sure, but you cant enter anyone elses house besides the one the game wants you to, until you beat that house. game was fun, but is not replayable at all, the AI has improved and is more of a threat, which is one good thing at least. but the AI does even less things then they did in the beta, you cant throw paint at them or anything. i hope these updates they promised bring these features into the game, but currently i cannot recommend this game for its price.

There is about 50% of the game promised, and one of the important characters is a raven that was introduced in beta and alpha. I haven't seen him even once. It was completely deleted, and the entire game only took an hour and a half. for all the years of waiting and suspense, unfortunately they frustrated us.

Hello Neighbor 2 is a disappointing mess of a game created by developers who put passion into their work but ultimately were forced to rework their game by a soulless corporation. Here's some context before I go into the main review: I have been a fan of the Hello Neighbor franchise ever since the pre-alpha came out back in September of 2016. I mean, I even have one of the second game's characters as my Steam profile picture. So, you would think that if I'm such a fan of Hello Neighbor, then I would love the sequel to the original game, right? Well...no. For 40 dollars, you receive an at most 4 hour experience (but if you're good at puzzle solving or just have a big brain in general then it's more like 2 hours), and for 60 dollars, you receive what I just mentioned along with 2 horrible DLCs and one okay DLC. The Late Fees DLC is buggy, the librarian is not threatening, and there's no ending because Steel Wool (Yes, THAT Steel Wool) seemingly didn't have the time to finish it (Wow, that sounds familiar). The Hellocopter seems to have been ported straight from Alpha 1.5 (other than there being no battery depletion), as it moves slower and slower the further it gets away from you. Not to mention, during the game's final boss, if you have the display for the hellocopter, the hellocopter drone itself, or both in your inventory, you will lose them forever after the boss fight, because (as of writing this review) they are the only two items in the game that do not respawn. The game promises a large, open world, a neural network AI that adapts to your playstyle of breaking into their house, and much more. So, how does the game do in that regard?...tinyBuild, the publisher of the Hello Neighbor franchise, falsely advertised practically EVERY aspect about this ENTIRE game. There is no neural network AI in any part of this game. We are instead left with a slightly better version of the AI from the demo, but when I say slightly, I really do mean slightly, because the characters still stop in the middle of chasing you, lose sight of you incredibly easily, do not use the layout to their advantage (I.E cutting you by taking another hallway that connects to the route you're taking), and can't see you from nearly as far away as the AI in the first Hello Neighbor game could. Now, what about the open world? A few streets, and all the locations are right next to each other. The spooky museum that the Neighbor from the first game is hiding in is right next to the bright and colorful bakery, and that is right next to the neighborhood. Not only that, but the game is in a linear structure until you beat the final boss and witness the ending, meaning you can't freely go to the different locations and do the puzzles in the order you want. The worst part about this is that the game wasn't originally like this. There are some (I say some just to be grammatically correct, but I mean a lot) rumblings that the original creator and lead designer of the Hello Neighbor franchise, Nikita Kolesnikov had any remaining power over HN taken from him during the development of this game. This can be seen with Nikita being demoted to creative director, and the new lead designer being given to Alexus Kravchenko. When Alexus became lead designer sometime last year (probably soon after Devlog 1 was released), the direction of the game started to change. The artstyle shifted to be more akin to the first Hello Neighbor game, which was a welcome change, but when the beta reveal trailer came out, no mention of the neural network..then the second beta trailer came out, and no mention of the neural network..hmm. The beta finally comes out on April 7, 2022 and..there's no neural network..apparently they're saving it for the full game..understandable I guess. Oh, but wait, a few months ago, everyone found out that a DEMO for the full game was shown off at PAX West! Then that demo releases...and the full game is found in an early version of the demo, and now we have a good idea of what the full game might be. Oh, but they still have 3 and a half months before the game releases, I'm sure they can change stuff!...well look what happened. I remember watching a retrospective about the abomination that is Riverdale. The person said that some seasons are so bad they're good, while some parts fall in this thing he called the Mediocre Valley, where there wasn't anything amazing (obviously), but there also wasn't anything so outlandish or insane that made it so bad it's good. I believe that describes the difference between the first Hello Neighbor game and Hello Neighbor 2. Hello Neighbor 1 has so many outlandish and crazy design decisions that some parts of it somehow manage to be fun, while Hello Neighbor 2 lands in the Mediocre Valley because there's really nothing notable about it other than tinyBuild's false advertising.

Hello neighbor 2 is an overpriced, unfinished game that makes me really sad. I don't want it to be that. I've been following development for this game since it was known as hello guest, for the longest time it felt like this game was going to break people's poor perception of hello neighbor. I wish I was right. There was so much promise during it's development, with the introduction of the man in the hat, the guest, beatrix mixed with the eerie and downright weird atmosphere of it's imagery and theme park/post-storm raven brooks setting. There were so many questions the community would endlessly discuss; who's the man in the hat? what purpose will he serve? how will the guest tie into this story? what is mayak? None of these questions are answered, the guest, who is advertised as the main antagonist for this game is only visible during the games intro. As development went on, the game went up for pre-order and the beta was released. The beta was absolutely exceptional, it did a lot of things right that the final game didn't, such as: communicate well to the player what they should be doing through the pinboard. In the beta it show's you which area's youve completed as well as the suspect you need to focus on. The final game tries to do this by showing you where to go on monitors, but walkthroughs and players i've seen tend to ignore it. Once you're done with an area and you're supposed to go back to the museum, the game does a horrible job to tell you that, as sometimes you have to go back to the museum before you're completely done with the puzzles in an area. When you are in the museum, sometimes you're just kicked out of the museum and it becomes inaccessible until you finish clearing puzzles in another person's house, which makes zero sense. -Stealth; The final game has a surprising lack of stealth, instead the AI's are just a lot more sensitive to noise and tend to change their routine depending on where you are in their houses. In the beta, there were stealth puzzles where you had to sneak behind a character, like mr. otto, you had to trick him into making a fish head and sneak behind him and take it before he would shoot it. Or in the mayor's house where you had to play sleeping music so he would go to bed in a room only he could access. These stealth puzzles were a nice break from the typical puzzles you'd find. Final game has an over-reliance of remembering codes and placing the correct objects in the correct area with the odd exception. - Having a truly open world; the beta allowed you to tackle any house at any time, with the findings/clues you'd discover in each neighborhood resident's house all tying back to the museum. It made sense as the museum essentially documented the town's history, which would also give you clues on where to find crucial items (think of the mayor photo with the statue holding the key). In the final game, the story is a lot more linear with each house having its own contained puzzles. The puzzles in this game also backtrack into the illogical and stupid territory that the first game falls into. Many of the puzzles are very clever, requiring analysis of your surroundings for hints or clues. But some are collecting a certain amount of items that open a secret compartment, with one of the items you're supposed to find being incredibly well hidden that you end up circling the house over and over again until you give up and look up a guide. Arguably the puzzles that don't have clues need them more than the ones that do. It doesn't help either that sometimes the items that you can pick up are often hidden alongside items that you can't pick up, which causes you to gloss over the items you actually need as you assume they're part of the background. It's insane that to justify the delay of the first game, the developers quoted that miyamoto quote "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." Whereas this game is unfinished, the story is so ridiculously underdeveloped even long-time fans of the series, who would normally call to defend this kind of thing, are beginning to point out how little ground this game covers. From an outsiders perspective, it looks like the main storyline was rushed to deliver the developers' promises on 3 DLC packs on launch. Quick note on the DLC packs, they should've been integrated into the main campaign's map as they're so disassociated with everything else in the game. They're their own self-contained stories, so much so that they end by looping back to the start of themselves. Both of the dlc maps are really good, it just makes me wish they were part of the main storyline to justify the wait from beta to now. Also the hello-copter dlc is a ripoff no matter the price, awful at a conceptual level. They say they plan to extend the story through updates, but it's still doesn't sweeten the initially sour first impressions. The AI in this game is also a massive sham - a couple of months ago the developers released a trailer discussing that the AI's ran on a neural network that would learn from the entire playerbase as a whole. This is a complete lie, the developers silently removed this fact from all store pages and left us with an AI that barely functions. The neural network is not present in the final game. The AI that we currently have is extremely sensitive - more so than the beta. In my playthrough, the police officer got stuck in a doorframe, mr peterson got stuck at a rotating bookcase, the baker got stuck infront of her fireplace and the mayor got stuck in a door. Them getting stuck gave me plenty of time to solve puzzles by myself, and with the issues i discussed earlier i can't imagine trying to beat them with a consistent threat. As for the pricing, it's absolutely disgusting that they're charging 60 australian dollars for the base game with the deluxe edition costing 85$ - almost 100$. Especially considering the length of the game, if it weren't for all the time i was running around looking for the last part of a puzzle or something i could interact with, the game would've taken two hours to beat. Youtubers are beating this game in one or two videos, so I'm sure that discussion about this game is bound to die down really quickly. i dunno, cheif. I really want to like this game as it's better than the first game (which is already an extremely low bar), looks beautiful and can be really fun from place to place (especially the mayors house). But I couldn't in my right mind recommend it to anyone until these problems are fixed, I'm not even sure if these problems will be fixed. The original hello neighbor was the first game I felt disappointed by, it taught me to form an opinion on the games i play rather than loving everything that remotely interests me. Unfortunately this sequel gives me the same final thoughts of the original game; "really? that's it? are you kidding me?" also i swear to god stop using the goddamn default unreal engine font

Do not buy Hello Neighbor 2... All the things that have been promoted in the past have been removed such as, Advanced AI (Learning from past community player choices), Free Roam Story, The Guest (He only appears in the beginning cutscene), and most of the gameplay shown from devlogs. (So don't get too excited) Next, the Deluxe edition that people have pre-ordered/bought is very outrageous, the "early access" that people have recieved when pre-ordering the game prior or on December 1st, Is basically the Full Game when it released on the 6th. They have also added two DLC levels out on day one. (I am not counting the Flying Camera as a DLC because it is ridiculous, who in the world is going to use that in the game...) Finally, the pricing... oh boy... The normal game costs only $40 and $60 for the Deluxe (Which includes the DLC). If you are someone who has bought and completed the normal version of the game and paid $36 for all the DLC on the store... Congrats! you have just spent $76 on this game!! In Conclusion, I am very disappointed in you, TinyBuild. You have turned one of the greatest (and one of my favorite) games into a scam, made the main gameplay last for a few hours depending on how good the players are in game, and basically gave us an ending to tell us to wait even longer for more story content while you guys were making two DLC levels to release with the game on day one?! Please, just stop working on this scam that is a game and go fix the original game, I still cannot play it even if I have my internet turned off. Thank you for reading my review on Hello Neighbor 2... - Acted

25 hour game play and ill just tell u what happened in a nut shell. I had a game breaking glitch at the mayors which ended up having to restart the game. the DLC is not finished, no endings on BOTH! The late fees glitched out a book and when i left to come back to see if it reappears, it restarts the game. no saves. You can't access some parts of the puzzle as well. I ended up in the basement, then when i was triggering the basement to flood and escape, like the game wanted me to with the obvious wheel and the puzzle leading up-it was impossible to do without glitching through the floor. SO i "cheated" and glitched through the floor, when i made it to the main floor finally and flooded the damn thing nothing happened. I ended up dying and breaking through the world boarder and ending the game. Back to school was just a hot mess, glitched out at the end breaking the game- had to restart. Finished it with a round 2 speedrun and there was no ending. The guy chasing us duplicated after a cut scene. So here's some sad truth about some gaming companies. -They don't care about quality, they will push out a game at a deadline and MAYBE patch it later. -Companies make the most money on release so they don't care or are in a rush to fix it for us. we probably wont see the endings to these DLC's. Just watch the youtubers beat it and save your money.

Nothing that was promised was implemented. They said stuff would be added in later updates, but seriously- did they seriously spend a year NOT developing the game? Sure they made a game, but they lied to us and added nothing that was shown in promo videos. The game itself is fine, but with no guest and no open world, it feels very unfinished and unpolished.

My favorite part of this game are all the missing features they promised in their marketing, it really makes the whole experience feel mysterious!
